address in the 3600blk of Valley Street. 42E-1 crew arrived at the
location with smoke showing from the C/D corner as well as smoke
pushing from the eves on the D side of a 2 story single family dwelling.
The residence of the structure were all standing out front of the
structure and advised that there was no one inside upon arrival. E-1
established its own water supply while the remaining crew pulled a 1
3/4 cross lay and advanced it to a door. At this time a mutual aid
request was requested by command, due to poor weather conditions
and the size of the structure, for Station 83 (England Hill), Station 100 (
Kenova, Wv) and also Station 94 (Cannonsburg) for a R.I.T. team. E-1
crew made an attack through the door on the C/D side and
encountered heavy fire in the kitchen and living room areas. 42E-4
arrived on scene and their crew began laddering the residence and
also pulled another cross lay and stretched it through the door in front
of the residence and started attacking the fire in the living room. 83E9
arrived on and established a secondary water supply and stretched a
exposure line to the B side of the residence to protect 2 vehicles.
Kenova Ladder 101 crew arrived on scene and advanced a line to the
second floor of the residence to check for any extension as well as
began opening up. 94R6 arrived on scene and their crews split into
two teams, one team as R.I.T. and the other began pulling the porch
ceiling and eves on the D side due to heavy smoke and extinguished
any fire. Due to the age of the structure, crews worked just over 4
hours before clearing the scene. All crew did a great job!
