2 Vehicle MVA with Injuries
06/19/2008 at 2043 Boyd Co. 911 Alerted Boyd Co. EMS and Catlettsburg
Police and Fire Depts. to a multiple vehicle injury accident at the
intersection of 15th  St. and US 23. 42E1 and Unit 6 responded with 11
members under the command of 4201 (Cornette). Upon arrival units found a
2 vehicle T-bone style collision with heavy damage to one vehicle on the
passanger side. The  driver of 1 vehicle out and complaining of no injuries
and the Driver of the other vehicle still inside the vehicle. Unit 6 crew went
to work stabilizing the vehicle as Engine 1's crew prepared for extrication of
the victim. Crews did a complete side wall removal of the passangers side
and the Pt. extricated packaged and loaded in the ambulance in about 10
minutes. Units returned to service in about 1hr.

2 Alarm Commercial Fire Kenova
4/14/2008 at 1703hrs Units were alerted to respond to the 1400 Blk.  of
Beach St. for a commercial structure fire. E-2 responded under the
command of 4204 (Crump). Crews arrived on scene and quickly went to
work manning exposure lines as the fire went defensive. Crews returned to
service in approximatley 3hrs.

AFGHANISTAN (WSAZ) -- The Department of Defense announced
Thursday the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation
Enduring Freedom, including one from eastern Kentucky.

They died May 7th in the Sabari District, Afghanistan, of wounds
suffered when their vehicle encountered an improvised explosive
device.

Spc. Jeremy Gullett was from Greenup, Kentucky. He was assigned to
the 4th Battalion, the 320th Field Artillery Regiment, the 4th Brigade
Combat Team, and the 101st Airborne Division in Fort Campbell,
Kentucky.

Gullett was 22 years old.

The other soldier killed was Staff Sgt. Kevin C. Roberts, 25, of
Farmington, N.M. He was also in the 10st Airborne Division.
