HISTORY
Our department is a combination paid/volunteer department made up of (4)
full time fire fighters, which include Chief, Deputy Chief, Assistant Chief
and Captain. We also have (2)Part time fire fighters with a volunteer staff
of 20. Our response area is roughly 3sq miles with a population of about
4,000. We operate out of one station that also houses the police
department.

The steamer in the picture above was purchased by the city in February
1885 for $12,000 including the price of hoses to equip it . the purchase of
the equipment was spured by several major fires in the downtown area.
the first of which occurred in July 22nd 1878 and burned from the area of
the current day 100 Blk of 26th St. To the the 3100 Blk of Lock Ave. The
second fire occurred in 1885.
