2 Alarm Commercial Fire Kenova
4/14/2008 at 1703hrs Units were alerted to respond to the 1400 Blk.  of
Beach St. for a commercial structure fire. E-2 responded under the
command of 4204 (Crump). Crews arrived on scene and quickly went to
work manning exposure lines as the fire went defensive. Crews returned to
service in approximatley 3hrs.

1/30/2008 Units were alerted by Dispatch for a request for stand by for
Kenova WV. fire department while they were on a commercial structure fire.
Engine 2 with 3 personnel responded. While covering their district and the
most of the north end of Wayne Co Engine 2 was alerted by Wayne Co.
Dispatch for a report of commercial structure fire with flames showing at
Burger King. Engine 2 arrived on scene with Kenova Squad 6 to find
nothing showing. Units found a light smoke condition on the inside and
tracked the source of the smoke from the roof top HVAC unit. Engine 2
returned to service in about 45 minutes. Engine 2 was released
approximately 30 minutes later.

AFGHANISTAN (WSAZ) -- The Department of Defense announced
Thursday the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation
Enduring Freedom, including one from eastern Kentucky.

They died May 7th in the Sabari District, Afghanistan, of wounds
suffered when their vehicle encountered an improvised explosive
device.

Spc. Jeremy Gullett was from Greenup, Kentucky. He was assigned to
the 4th Battalion, the 320th Field Artillery Regiment, the 4th Brigade
Combat Team, and the 101st Airborne Division in Fort Campbell,
Kentucky.

Gullett was 22 years old.

The other soldier killed was Staff Sgt. Kevin C. Roberts, 25, of
Farmington, N.M. He was also in the 10st Airborne Division.
